About The Quartet
The members of the Catskill Quartet, traditionally consisting of two violins, viola and cello, have been providing exceptional music for weddings and events for more than 30 years.
In addition to our credits as professional musicians throughout the Hudson Valley and New York City area we have been featured in many film scores such as Tribeca release Steep, The Road to Wellville with Anthony Hopkins and Matthew Broderick, and The Maze. We’ve even “plugged in” for live performances with the touring tribute bands of Queen, Pink Floyd, and Led Zeppelin!
How Does This Work?
We consider it our job to assist you with the music selection process. Fifteen minutes prior to the ceremony we begin the prelude music while your guests are being seated. When cued, we begin the processional music for the parents, bridal party and bride.
During the ceremony there are many opportunities for music: communion, walking around the chuppah, lighting of candles, Offertory etc. Lastly, the recessional music continues until the guests have moved on to the cocktail / reception.
More often than not we are contracted for the second hour to provide music for the cocktail portion of the reception. Unlike many other quartets, we perform a wide variety of styles: rags, 30s-40s jazz, classics, Broadway, pop, tangos, and even rock when requested. In addition to the touch of class that live string music provides, we like to offer our unique lively repertoire as well. Bottom line, this is all about life!

Social Distancing
The Catskill Quartet is able to maintain a sense of intimacy without interfering with guests’ personal space. Allow us to provide a sense of normalcy and elegance while still adhering to the safety measures needed in these changing times. With masks on and hands sanitized, we can perform in both open air and tented venues with no requirement for power or amplification.
As always, we provide flexibility in movement between your ceremony, cocktail hour, and plated dinner reception or cocktail-style reception. In addition, we now offer you the option of a virtual performance. Reach out below to inquire!
